The Fling

On Saturday 2nd July, The Fling Festival will welcome adults from 18 to 80+ to enjoy an intriguing alternative to the usual night on the town.

Between 4pm and 11pm in Central Park, Chelmsford, The Fling will give you the opportunity to explore, seduce and surprise your senses through live cabaret, music, sideshows, poetry, silent disco and more.

Familiar faces will be mixing with new as visitors are offered the chance to become part of the world of The Fling for one day only. Once inside the tented village of delights, all activities are free, with a variety of food and drinks to purchase and sights and sounds galore.

The organisers of the Fling encourage you to don your glad rags, let your imaginations take over and dabble in entertainments new and old.

Barhouse are presenting the live music at the event, with a stunning line-up of Missing Andy and the New Town Kings plus The Cuban Brothers, MC Xander, Angry vs The Bear and D’Ukes.

Over on the acoustic stage you can see Panic Award winning The Lemoncurd Kid, Jonas Graile, Tall Dark Friend, Happnin’ Boy, Ease Springs, Navacross plus Richard Dobney & Co with special guest Di Billinghurst.

The wordsmith’s tent features such names as Ian Sinclair, whose novels include the James Tait Black Prize winner, Downriver and, most recently, Dining on Stones. He has also written and presented a number of films for BBC 2’s Late Show, as well as co-directing Channel 4 documentary Asylum, winner of the short film prize at the Montreal Festival.

The tent is curated by 14 Hour and will be hosted by Nathan Penlington, who has performed alongside Ricky Gervais and Stewart Lee, whilst Dan Cockrill, Rob Auton and Martin Galton are hosting an hour as Bang Said the Gun.
