The Winds of Change…

For those of you that didn’t know, and I doubt there can be many, Panic is run entirely by volunteers and as such life can sometimes have a nasty habit of getting the way of the day to day running of things. This has very much been the case recently and we have been faced with a decision – whether to plough on as usual and risk creating a substandard magazine or to take a break from the magazine side of things and concentrate our efforts into other areas.

Over the last year our web traffic has been going up and up and now very much overshadows the readership of the print magazine whilst costing a fraction of the money to produce and maintain. It also offers us an instant format to convey news and articles, rather than the print magazine which spans a longer timeframe. It is due to these reasons the we are putting the printed magazine on hold for the time being.

Do not fret, however, as this does not mean the end of holding Panic mag in your hand at the bar. We are aiming to use this time partly to regroup and reorganise with new plans to bring the magazine back – bigger and better than ever. But to do that will need some organisation, and none of us want to be struggling to output a lower quality magazine in the mean time.

Also, it means we can throw a lot more time into continuing to grow the website, which is going from strength to strength, as well as a number of very exciting other projects which I cannot talk about yet but will hopefully soon be having a big impact on the local scene.

As far as the printed magazine goes, thank you to everyone who has written for, advertised in, distributed or read it up until this point, and be sure to know that we will be working hard to get it back out into Chelmsford as soon as possible.

Remember to keep checking back here, like our Facebook page, follow our Twitter account, come to Panic live and above all, support YOUR local music and arts scene.
